It seems Jake could never satisfy his well-to-do parents, especially his executive father. He was never as smart or keen as his older brother and had no desire to compete. After announcing he is dropping out of school, he his kicked out of the house by his father. While packing his things, with  his family out of town, he is taken by an intruder.
